Mystic Moonlit Night - Sharon (6th June, 2009)

As I sit below the stars,
On a Breezy summer night,
I cant help but stare,
At the sky aglow with the pretty moonlight!

As I look up at the moon,
Through the clear cloudless sky,
My heart starts to swoon...
And here below I lie!

The sky suddenly turns silver with light
And the mighty wind blows with all its might
Then slowly, as if by magic
A figure takes form
Inside the moon...
Its a unicorn!!!

Slowly it decends,
A mighty white beast.
With a horn on its head,
And sparkle at its feet...

I start to wonder
Why its coming at me
But then as it nears
I begin to see
It comes not alone
But on its back
Brings a beautiful gift for me.

The day that I dreamt of...
The day for all eternity...
For it brings on its back
A Prince for me!!

I stare up in wonder
Not knowing what to feel
Is this some blunder?
Some mystical dream?

But then I start to feel
The air turning cool
The space around me
Fills with mystic silver blue

Suddenly I'm standing face to face
With the mythical beast
Eyes as gentle as blue lace
My prince puts out his hand
I take it with full grace
This moment, forever, shall be written on time's sand

And the next thing I know
I'm on the unicorn's way
Riding into the moonlight
Till the world below slowly fades away...

  3. Dear Sharon, “Mystic Moonlit Night” is a beautiful, imaginative poem. A unicorn descending from the moon… now that’s what I call imagination! I will try to read more soon. Could you please tell me if it’s alright to post a poem in Mensa India? I don’t know how to do blogs. There are so many rules in this group that I’m nervous about posting anything. Please tell me what’s ok and what is not. My email is riisnathompson@hotmail.com. Love, Amy.
